Baby Talk Info & Intel: Saratoga – Race 7 – Friday, July 25, 2025
The fillies stretch out to one mile on the inner turf. We have 13 entered in this affair, but only 10 slots are available in the starting gate. Not This Time has two daughters ready to go, along with fillies from Curlin, Speightstown, Justify, and Practical Joke. Both Chad Brown and Todd Pletcher have a pair entered, and we’ve got one from Bill Mott, Weaver, McPeek, and Kenneally. Four of the ten in the main field have previously done the racing thing. Let’s take a look…
#2B Time to Dream (9/2) – Not This Time (19.9%) is the daddy behind the second part of the Repole / Pletcher (17.3%) entry. Her unraced dam is by Street Sense, and she’s thrown five other foals of racing age, one of whom won as a juvenile first out at Churchill, won a stakes while still a two-year-old, and went on to finish their career as a MGSW of five of 12 races with nearly $800K in earnings. The bidding stopped on this gal last year at $750K (9/121). TAP put two works into her back in April at Palm Beach Downs and then shipped her up to Saratoga, where she’s drilled nine times (total of 41 furlongs). One of her works has been on the Oklahoma turf, and three have taken place on the main oval. Her times have not been fast.
#6 Red Violet (3/1) – The morning line favorite is one of two that Chad Brown (19.0%) will saddle and send out. This filly is a Don Alberto homebred that was sired by Justify (16.9%). Her mama was bred in Ireland, and she’s by Invincible Spirit. She won her first race ever while a juvey at Leopardstown, but never won again, ending one for eight with $37,000 in the bank. She’s tossed eight other foals of racing age, one that won at first asking as a juvenile here at Saratoga. Brown has overseen all of her work right here at the Spa, where she’s been out on ten mornings (37 furlongs), the first seven coming on the training track and the last three on the main overall. The stopwatch has shown somewhat average times.
#8 Ms Daredevil (6/1) – No surprise here that this filly was sired by Daredevil (5.3%). Elusive Quality is the broodmare sire, and mom was two for 18 with a win in her debut at Gulfstream Park as a baby. She’s produced one other foal of racing age, and that one scored second time on the track at Del Mar as a 2YO. Today’s runner hammered for $100K last year as a yearling (4/27). She’s been out on one previous occasion; Churchill Downs was the site of her race in mid-June. On that day, she went off at odds of 26/1 and made a big move to finish as the runner-up, three lengths shy of the winner. After her run, trainer Eddie Kenneally gave her two maintenance spins at CD before shipping her north for this event.
My Pick - #2B Time to Dream. Repole / Pletcher / Jose / Not This Time is a pretty solid superfecta. I also appreciate the fact that she has a half-sibling who was quite precocious. I’m going to give her a shot in this one even tho she may be a bit of an underlay since she’s part of an entry that will surely take more money simply because the public gets ‘two for one’.
