Baby Talk Info & Intel: Saratoga – Race 6 – Sunday, July 13, 2025
A full field of 10 colts is set to go five and a half furlongs on the turf course (weather permitting, of course). Pletcher has two entered, and Clement, Casse, and Ward each have one. On the sire side, Not This Time will have two to represent him, with one each from Oscar Performance, Munnings, and Into Mischief. Seven of these dudes will be making their debut, two have been out once, and one fella has done the racing thing four times before. Let’s finish the week strong and uncover a winnah…
#1 Final Score (6/1) – This colt is one of the two by Not This Time (19.9%) and also one of the pair trained by Todd Pletcher (30/173, 17.3%). Mama, by Bernardini, only raced twice, but did score one time and banked $30,000. She’s tossed three other foals of racing age, with one winning as a juvey at CD in a MCL event. Repole picked this guy up for $600K as a yearling (19/121). TAP has worked him six times at Belmont’s training track and once on the main SAR oval (27 furlongs). Two back, on 6/22/25, he blasted off a mighty bullet going a half mile in 47 seconds flat from the gate (1/114).
#5 Augusinian (3/1) – This Florida-bred colt is going to be making his second start for Mark Casse (7/56, 12.5%). His debut came at Gulfstream Park over five furlongs on the turf back on 6/20/25 when he missed by only a neck at odds of even money. Pops is the First-Crop sire, Galilean, and this guy is his only offspring to make it to the track in the afternoon. His 20YO mom is by Elusive Quality and went 5 for 15 on track with a win at the G2 level and earnings of $231K. She’s produced a whopping 10 other foals of racing age. Trainer Mark Casse hasn’t put him back to work since his race.
#8 Schwarzenegger (5/2) – The ML favorite comes out of the Wes Ward (5/42, 11.9%) barn, and he’s also sired by Not This Time (19.9%). His dam only ran one time, but she scored in that one as a juvenile for HOF Bill Mott and banked $30,000. Mom, by Lemon Drop Kid, has one other foal of racing age. Today’s competitor sold as a weanling for $410K (1/13) and then brought $950K last year as a yearling (5/121). WW has been prepping him since late March with six spins at Keeneland prior to three at SAR (33 furlongs), with two coming on the grass. On 5/6/25, he zipped a half mile in 46.6 seconds to earn a big bullet (1/78). Last out on the lawn, he breezed four panels in 46.62 seconds (4/66).
My Pick – Not This Time had an impressive juvenile winner here earlier this week, and I’m between his two sons in this event. My gut is that #8 will take the bulk of the money, so I’m going to be a contrarian and go with #1 Final Score. Repole / TAP / Irad is a formidable trifecta, and I’m impressed with his work tab. Let’s give him a role at ML odds of 6/1.
Thank you for all of your support! Have fun with this race and I’ll be back at ya next week.
